2016 Pinot Noir Rodney Strong

I didn't want to write this. I promised I would.

The question was how much of a wine's taste is the result of who made it? I like Rodney Strong wines a lot. Spending an afternoon with Mr. Strong talking about wine was a great experience for me. I don't think he came to Kansas City often. I was grateful for the time. And this was a good wine. It was dark and fruity with a little tang. But it just was not as enjoyable as the Acacia. Was it the extra acidity?

How do the nuances happen? Is it the wood barrels? I do not have answers. I can say that the same varietal from the same year in the same region do not taste the same.

I would have been happier if Rodney Strong came out on top. I would have been OK if they were the same. But now I'm a bit down-hearted that my horse did not win the race.

Nuances require maturity. Adulting is hard.

On the bright side, I got to dink two good bottles of California wine.
