2018 Dry Riesling Pewsey Vale Vineyard
Dry. This Australian Riesling is a dry white wine. Oh, did I mention, dry? Notes on the bottle’s label state “… highly esteemed specialist single site estate vineyard with provenance Riesling is our single focus”. This run-on sentence notation means the vineyard only does Riesling wines. Did I mention, dry? The Pewsey Vale Riesling lacks deep fruitiness or multi- citric flavors. However, the wine maker’s notations identify white flowers and dried herbs. Whereas, my tastings found stone/granite and light minerals. The wine in the glass looked good. The nose was earthy, and there were legs. But it reminded me of going to an old-time movie theater. Sometimes, during the movie, the film track would burn. The screen would flicker become blurry and then theater lights were turned on. The audience had to sit, waiting for the film to get glued and patched. …. I’m still waiting on this ’18 Dry Riesling.
