2016 Acacia Pinot Noir Carneros

How much of a wine's taste is the result of who made it? It is hard to isolate just that one variable, but this is the first of my attempt.

Same year: 2016. Same varietal: Pinot Noir Same Region:Southern California

This was a nice looking bottle of wine for under $25. The label sported a clean coat of arms. It looked like a wine from Spain rather than California.

When I pulled the real cork, the earthy fruit aromas were not shy. The deep red pour didn't have much legs, but the first taste was all about dark cherries and plums and any red fruit you could imagine.

This is wine has better balance than a California squirrel on a power line. The acidity was there. The tannin was there. The hint of oak barrel was there. All the elements came together in a surprisingly smooth group hug. It felt good in my mouth.

Carneros will be hard to beat. Stay tuned.
