2018 Heritage Red Vox Vineyards
Vox Vineyard is located a few miles North and West of Kansas City, MO. It arrived on the Missouri wine scene just a few years ago. Their vines are young, but interesting. The owner is reintroducing American varietals, rather than standard vines. These grape vines were identified by T.V. Munson in the 1800’s. The historic, rustic approach is a two-edged sword. There is the issue of re-introducing unfamiliar grapes. Second, is gaining market shares against those well know, publicized and rated named grapes. Salmon are skilled & tested for swimming upstream. Vox vineyard is in its early stage. The winemaker does not provide us with which American grape was processed in this red wine. It is identified as lot “C”; so, is there a lot “A” & “B”? Heritage Red is a light red wine. It has legs as a well as light tannin. But it, like other Vox wines, needs aging…. I wonder what it would taste like four years from 2018?
