2016 Cantina Zaccagnini Montepulciano d'Abruzzo
The bottle had a story to tell. It had a piece of vine tied around it's neck, like a cavalcante wearing a bolo.
I had to pick it up. It was estate bottled in Italy. The montepulciano grape is mostly a Tuscan thing. It was aged in Slavonic oak barrels.
The violet color delivered blackberries in a leather holster. A touch of tannin in a tangy borsalino hat danced its way to a slightly vanilla finish. As I poured a second glass, I almost said out loud, "Please join me at the dinner table."
