2016 Petite Petit David Michael Winery

How could I resist buying it? First, I like wines from Lodi, California. But the bottle made it look so much fun. It was a circus tent. The red foil cap had a red and white awning. The label was old-time circus poster art with elephants, strong men and a bearded lady. It was like a carnival barker taunting me to step up to this David Michael Joint.

The dark red pour delivered the promised show. The raspberry start seemed to have a blueberry finish. The tannin was tamed with a velvet feel. The blend of 85% Petite Sirah and 15% Petit Verdot carried the memory of the oak barrel into my glass.

The long pleasant finish made me smile as I wondered how they got the elephants to dance with such a graceful balance.
