2018 Schiava Elen Walch Vineyard

The Italians have a Pinto Noir lite: the Schiava grape. It’s a light, smooth red wine, which has many characteristics of a Pinot Noir. It has several other names, but is mostly grown in northern Italy. This ’18 proved fun & enjoyable. The nose was floral. First taste was cherry, and then Almond. The color was a shallower red, but nice legs. The finish is smooth, without deep oak tannin. It’s a perfect wine for a social get together, but one for serious conversation or exquisite dinning. It could be a summer sipping wine, instead of all white chilled wines.
