2015 Medoc Chateau Vieux Robin Vineyard

This Frenchie was not the “Red, Red Robin” singing along. I wasn’t necessarily looking for a Spring-time wine, but was hopeful for a smiley face. The wine was bottled in that famous French geographic area Medoc. Its delivery was underwhelming. There isn’t much depth or cleverness. It’s a red blend, probably Cabernet Sauvignon with Merlot. I wouldn’t say it was for the birds, but it’s an O.K. C-1. This ’15 Medoc gives off a mild berry nose. First taste is fruit forward, Mulberry. Then, tannin moves to the front. There is a bit of fig; the young robins would enjoy some. It’s heavy in coffee and/or mocha. Because of its dryness, serve it with beef, venison, or any wild game. Avoid sea foods, fowl or desserts. Since it doesn’t sing a fun song, do not bring it to a party. Just drink now, either alone or with someone who has a sad “tail” of woe.
