2017 Pinot Noir  Jean-Claude Boisset bottler

Those French library and elite level Pinot Noir wines are very good. These special pinots are estate grown, produced by master wine makers, and are handled with that “TT-L-C” care. Our T-L-C Dashboard ratings would award them with the high score of T=3, L=3, C=3. To begin, this French Pinot Noir cost me less than twenty bucks… It is not an estate level wine. Also, it’s screw top stopper fit the price as wel las the wine maker’s expectations. It’s tasting notes read…”application Bougogne Controllee” with...“commitment to its spontaneous character- on the vine (where wine is truly born)…”. What the h - - l! Only a bore would assume ignorant people needs tob told that wine is made from grapes. But, back to focus on tasting: This French Pinot Noir was thin, a watery weak red. That traditional Pinot Noir barnyard nose wasn’t present. It tasted like any average red wine, lacking the excitement of dark cherry, plum, mushrooms and other aromas. In short, this is some kind of red wine. The grapes were gathered, crushed, fermented, and then bottled in France. It is a drinkable red wine. Next purchase, I’ll add another $ 20-30 bucks to opt for an Oregon or Washington State estate Pinot Noir!
