2018 Sauvignon Blanc Babich Wines

White wines produced in New Zealand give great quality for their price. The reader can scroll back to read our 2018, Nautilus Estate Sauvignon Blanc review. This one was produced by Babich Wines in Marlbough Country that has cooler temps for crisp & tasty wines. This bottle is not just another “Kiwi.” DYK: the kiwi bird cannot fly; it is related to the big Ostrich & Emu, which cannot fly. The kiwi eggs are almost as large as the bird. It is New Zealand’s national bird, which gets its name from its call “Kee-Wee, Kee-Wee”. And the critter is older than Kiwi fruit, 1950. New Zealand producers are using screw top caps, in place of plastic or composition corks. With high quality natural corks getting so expensive, screw caps solve many issues: pricing, wine getting corked, reliability of consistency, shipment, as well as storage. This is another top-quality Sauvignon Blanc. The nose is pure pear. The legs run circles inside the glass. It has a clear, clean color. I enjoyed more “drinking” to fond lemon, fresh celery, and slate. Nope, I did not hear the Kiwi call, “Kee-Wee, Kee-Wee”. But I did get some of that kiwi fruit taste with out having to peal it or eat its fur. The finish was floral, crisp and smooth. These wines are best served chilled Here’s another refreshing summer-time winner! Drink it now in front of T.V., on your outside deck, on your boat or camping. These New Zealand Sav/Blanc go well with virtually all seafood.
