Lambrusco Grasparossa di Castelvetro

1980s pop culture is a big thing. For some, it is music like Huey Lewis or Madonna. Television had Alf and Cheers. For wine drinkers, it might be "Riunite on ice. That's nice." It is as embarrassing as your photo with 1980s hair holding an ABBA album.

Still, a nice Lambrusco on a hot summer day might be both good and nostalgic. The Grasparossa di Castelvetro was worth a try.

Lambrusco means "wild vine" in Italian. How mysterious.

The sparkling red wine was actually purple. Slightly chilled, it was a plum punch in the mouth. It made a brave effort to rise above a bad reputation. It even managed to provide a little tannin which is surprising in a such fruity wine. Was I satisfied?

The second glass was on ice. It was refreshing, nostalgic and all references to wine disappeared like consorts on a bad hair day.
