2018 Rose in a can Pritle Winery

We have written about a Sparkling Wine in a can. Read But this canned vino is packaged by a Missouri winery, Weston, MO. I am not writing about their wine. Rather, my reaction about drinking wine out of a can! Start with I didn’t like that whole experience, which mimics drinking soda pop from a can. All of the mystic of wine evaporates: no popping cork; no pouring into crystal; no nose; no color, legs, or cork. The sole action is to swig or chug-a-lug that wine. Even more, the essence of a varietal changes in one of those aluminum cans. My guess is that white wines, such as Chardonnay or Sauvignon Blanc would remain true better than red wines fermented in French Oak…. I am guessing top notch vineyards do not put their products into cans. Canned wines make sense in specific venues, where broken glass becomes a problem. It makes sense that cans become a utilitarian method of coping with unique settings. The setting, itself, changes the entire wine experience. For me, drinking wine out of a can would like trying to having sex with an incredible woman, all the while wearing a wool sock instead of an ultra thin lubricated condom!
