2017 Malbec Alambrado Winery

I liked it, but this young Malbec wasn’t one of my top picks. There’s an unusual nose, one that isn’t very distinctive, green fig. Now, I enjoy ripe fig; green is a bit flat. First taste had plum followed by dark roasted coffee. That alone, might make this Argentine Malbec a morning wine. Why not? It would match well with fried sausage and eggs. Even rye toast would add a new delight. Ohhh…, the ’17 wine: getting deeper into the red, there was plum, some blackberry, and slate. It gave off a slight citric finish tannin. There is a solid structure with boldness. There is a deep scarlet color, good legs, but a composition cork. It’s a drink-it-now Malbec. Serve it with Chili, corn tamales, or medium-well steak.
