2019 Sauvignon Blanc Seven Hills Winery

This ’19 white wine reminds me of one of my quail hunts. The dogs flushed the covey; the birds scattered; I sighted in on a quail on the wing. I fired, missing; that quail vanished into a large Milo field…. So close, dang.

A Sauvignon Blanc follows a few markers: distinctive herb and/or earthy aromas. There’s got to be ripe apples along with zest. Maybe this Columbia Valley S/B needs more aging. The color was clear; the nose can cross as a fresh grassy lawn. But, I found its taste flat, watery, along with celery seeds.

Seven Hills is one of Walla Walla area’s top wineries. So, giving the winery the benefit of a doubt, I need to revisit this one in a couple of years.
