2017 Rose Kendall-Jackson Winery

Kendall-Jackson: That label was one solid choice for a reliable Chardonnay. This is the first 2017 K.J. tasting. But this Rose was very disappointing; underwhelming my K.J. expectations. Their Rose was too sweet and without excitement. Yet, the screw-top cap fit its marketing. The color was peachy pink of Rose with a nose of fruity honeydew melon. Tasting gave way to the sweetness of freshly sliced ripe honeydew, white syrup, and then ripe golden delicious apple. It finished on a sweet sugar cube note. I imagine the winemaker has spent too much time with the bees, but very little time with the birds. With lack of top-flight wine characteristics, this K.J. Rose is just another sweet white wine for summer picnics.
