2015 7 Moons Red Blend

Is "Grocery Store Wine" a category, yet? I will guess most wine drinkers spend less than $15 a bottle at the grocery store where they buy the other ingredients of their meals. Meat, bread, cheese, oh there is 7 Moons.

Its a dark bottle with a black label. White phases of the moon stand out in a vertical arrangement. Even the synthetic cork was black.

The red blend of 7 California varietals sounds like the end result of recreational marijuana more than an actual recipe. Syrah, Merlot, Petite Syrah, Cabernet, Sauvignon, Malbec, Grenache were all listed but not percentages of each.

This wine is ridiculously fruity and confusing. It wasn't fruity in a juice sort of way. A dark fruit, earthy mixture that was not unpleasant, but unexpected.

It is an interesting grocery store wine that would pair well with a big, smokey cheese burger off the grill.
