2010 Cabernet-Franc Griffin Creek Vineyards
Griffin Creek is a vineyard, but not a winery. This is a place where fine varietals are grown: Tempranillo, Grenache and Syrah. The vineyard has to harvest the grapes, and then truck them to the Mother Ship at Turner, Oregon. The growing area is at higher elevations and near the Northern California boarder. This is the one area in Oregon that we have not gone wine tasting. And there are numerous wineries to visit here. Unlike the more densely northern areas, this a wilderness area for camping, hiking, and fishing. I would be trout fishing and wine tasting; salmon fishing and wine tasting. That would be a challenging time problem, whether to go trout fishing or wine tasting. Anyway, this ’10 cab-Franc is a good catch. Tie a string around the neck; drop in a nearby stream for 20 minutes. Pop the cork, which has kept it at-the-ready. Pour yourself and guests a glass, and have a picnic under pines. Make certain you are in a campsite outfitted for fire. The black cherry taste will match Southern Oregon. The earthy taste will match Oregon’s Rough River area. The legs will remind you that long hike. Enjoy this 2010 on your 2019 vacation.
