2014 Vieilles Vignes Chateauneuf-Du-Pape Winery

2014 Vieilles Vignes Chateauneuf-Du-Pape Winery What an interesting bottle with a Bishops mitre embossed in dark glass. Plus, its label features a knelling saint with a golden halo. Wineries have to fight for display space, else their wines aren’t sold. Our T-L-C Dashboard recognizes the importance of the “Look”/L: marketing matters. I grabbed this heavy, embossed and impressive glass bottle. When I opened it, a real cork popped out; impressive. This red wine poured a clean, crimson red. Put these visuals together ratcheting up to an L- 3 score. And how would it taste (T=taste)? It is a blend with a floral nose, heather. Then came a full flavor of fresh herbs, some cherry, and a smooth finish. This wine came from old vine, which were 50+ years old in the Rhone region of France. The scoring in taste is high with a T-3 score. The cost is less than $50, which yields a C-2 score. This French blend is one to drink now, store awhile, or bring to a social gathering.
