2012 Infinito Egododegos Winery

Spanish red wines are usually bold. This one comes with a fun label, a flashing purple matador’s cap with one bull’s horn. This red blend uses three great varietals: 70% Monastrell, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 5% Petit Verdot. It gets an “Olay” ovation, and it is more than six years old in the bottle. Beginning with tasting, we dispensed with those loud introduction trumpets. Just pour into the crystal, the suerte de capote. After first taste, either airing or decanting is recommended; this is an estate wine where breathing opens full nuances. It has deep red, which will tempt any fighting bull. (Although bulls are color blind - - they charge the cape.) it stands on firm legs like those 1,300 pounders. Its nose is earthy with violet. Here is a recommended red with mocha, black berry, plumb finishing with mild tannin. Too bad the vintner stuck a composition cork in the bottle. Combine this wine with red meats and hearty meals, because it is no light weight.
