2016 Tavola Pinot Noir Ponzi Vineyard

Ponzi vineyard was one of the earliest Oregon wineries we toured- - - Twenty years ago. It is one of the older state wineries, just outside Portlaknd. We enjoyed their Pinot Noir then, and their 2016 is good, too. This label is not an Estate Pion Noir; the wine maker gives it a “food family wine” classification. It deserves a bit better bump. It has the traditional Pinot Noir nose: wet hay, barnyard. But the adventure begins at first taste: all Bing cherry...not for grilled sirloin or smoked ribs. More tasting adds complexity of cholate, cranberry with a smooth finish of light tannin. This Pinot has a dark scarlet red color, plus legs. After our first visit twenty years ago, we liked the Ponzi wines then and enjoy this light Pinot Noir now.
