2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Mount Veeder Winery

I’m into those high mountain Malbec’s from Argentina. Well, why not a high mountain Cab? This one comes from a well-established California vineyard. It is growing grapes above the 1,000 ft evaluation in the Mayacam mountains above Napa.Cabernet Sauvignon usually registered too heavy for my taste, but this Cab fits within my wheel house. The nose is fruity/ blackberry. Then, the first taste is - - - blackberry. That is followed by red cherry…. Hmmm, could this possibly be a Ca-Sav? With more tasting & fussing, minerals/slate gave way to dark chocolate. Surprising, there wasn’t any pepper, acidic, or lasting oak tannin residuals. The color is very dark, almost black. This cab has good legs, and the winemaker used a genuine cork. Here is a cab worth every cent: store some of this ’15, drink some & enjoy, gift some, or serve at a party.
