2014 Old Vine Zinfandel Brazin Vineyards

The winery’s tasting notes these vines were “un-trellised” but grown in Brazilian style. Being curious, I went to their web site, and sure enough theirs were free-standing, tree-like grape vines. These are really ugly old vines compared to traditional, well-manicured vines. This ‘14 Zin is a really good one, grown in Lodi, CA. At first taste there is dark chocolate, followed by plum. The robust zinfandel gives way to raisin, then finishes with spicy tannin. It shows a deep red color with full legs. The bottle gas a genuine cork for longer shelf life. Brazin old vine has reach: buy it & drink it now, stow a few bottles in your wine cellar for cold winter nights, serve it with hearty meals, gift friends, etc.
