2016 Albarino Boge das La Cana
I’ve read about Spain’s very fruity white grape, Albarino. So, I got on my bicycle and pedaled over to Northern Spain. Bought a bottle & returned. (Hey! If E.T. can bicycle around the moon, a QWK trip across the Atlantic is E-Z.) Even the wine processing was a bit complicated: the Albarino was grown & process at the winery, buy shipped someplace else for bottling, and the bottler stuck in a cheap plastic cork. The Albarino grape fits into that summer sipping category. The ’16 has a good clean, clear golden color. And IT is fruity, but not a heavily sweet wine. The nose is pear; the first taste is pear. The wine holds good legs. After more tastings, rich peach comes to the fore. It’s fun to find lemon and pineapple: a lot like a fruit salad. It provides a smooth finish without much tannin… get some for summer sipping.
