2000 Old Vine Red ( OVR) Marietta Cellars Vineyard

The years 2015-16 make for high quality California Zinfandel…. & most of the Zin’s I drink are cut from one vineyard, as is most CA Zins. However, this particular OVR is a blend of several Zinfandel grapes, and it shows no date: a blind taste test. “Old Vine Red” is a happy Zin; just clap one hand, however. It starts with a deep, rich red color with very nice legs. The nose is floral, a rose. First taste is surprising because it is f the wine cast, which quickly give way to plumb. There is the traditional dry Zin but is followed by lime and chocolate. It is bottled with a good quality bottle and real cork. OVR is buy it – drink it now, store some, or gift a bottle.
