2015 Malbec Susan Balbo Vineyard

At our last neighbors’ wine tasting party, a guest gifted us with a bottle of one of his favorite Argentine Malbec, grown in high altitude wine country. Of course, we were grateful and eager to sample. But not during the party, because I had several Oregon & Washington State wines for tasting. and darned if these bottles were finished. After letting this Susan Balbo chill a few days, the tasting moment arrived. After the first taste, I understood reasons for his liking this Malbec. It had a fruity nose and long deep purple legs that crawled around the glass. Its first taste was cherry but then followed by dark liquorish. There was a light oak, spicy finish. This one contained a light blend: 95% Malbec with 5% Petit Verdot, very smooth. It was bottled with a genuine cork. This is a buy to drink now, store in your wine cellar, serve with dinner, or feel comfortable in gifting (just as our friend has).
