2015 Traminette Stone Hill Winery

Fifteen years ago, we took a Missouri wine tour through and around Herman, MO. We did not find any Norton wines to write home about. Then, some friends took a similar wine tour. They returned with bottles to share. We got to their white wine: Here was a fun white grape grown and fermented in Missouri. It wasn’t here in our tour, because it has just recently been developed: a cross with Gewürztraminer and Johannes Seyv. (O.K wasn’t that an interesting bit of trivia?) The nose was very fruity. It’s first taste was light grapefruit, followed by lime. It was a thicker wine than Gewürztraminer, but quite friendly with a light-yellow color and legs. The winemaker used a screw top cap, but the bottle fits as a “hock”, a German win bottle. Buy it, chill it and drink it. This Traminette will work for you in the Summer time.
