2015 Malbec Cantena Tapata Vineyard

What’s hard to understand is how good grapes grow on mountains at high altitudes. When Juan Valdez advertises “mountain grown” coffee that seems to make sense, because it came from Columbia: just pick the beans, put ‘em in a bag, and then ship to the U.S.A. Don’t most varietals want low altitude, warm sun and water? This high mountain Malbec is quite tasty. The nose is of fresh roses; its color a rich red, and there are long legs. The vintner put a real cork in the bottle. The experience of tasting and drinking finds fun stuff: plumb, pepper, and currant. There is a smooth finish of dark chocolate. This one has a lower alcohol content of 13%, which means you can drink more with getting smashed. So, drink it now, buys some as keepers, or serve with dinner. Note: you will not be embarrassed to take to a party or as a gift.
