Old Vine Zinfandel Kirkland/Costco house brand

Costco’s wine buyers grab large quantities of a varietal. They vineyard bottles the wine under the Kirkland label, and it’s always drinkable. “Sometimes” the buyers hot a home run. This ’15 Somona County Old Vine is one of those. It is one of those high end, complex Zins. The nose begins fruity. The first taste is black berry before getting into zin. Complexity follows with vanilla, cocoa, citric, slate, and a berry finish. All of which sounds like an ice cream sundae or a freshly baked cake, but we are talking wine! Because of cost, these bottles have composition cork. So, it’s a buy it & drink it now Zinfandel. If you can find this 2015, grab a few bottles for enjoyment: drink it now.
