2016 Fume Blanc Ferrart-Carano Winery

We have ordered this wine in restaurants, paired with seafoods. However, these were 2014 & ’15 vintages. As I recall, these were full bodies, earthy, and green apple. Being curious, I wondered how the 2016 would stack-up. As has been my experience that not every beautiful angel food cake is the same as another beautiful angel food cake. To begin, the nose was fruity with pear. The pour was light yellow with very weak legs. More tasting revealed some peach along with honey dew melon, but the finish was very sweet with light tannin. It was disappointing with its screw top, thin and runny body. Yep, 2015 definitely was a much better Sonoma County fume blanc.
