2015 Syrah- Grand Estates Columbia Crest

Washington State’s Yakama Valley produces really good wine, and this Syrah holds to form. “Grand Estates” grabbed my attention because so much good Merlot comes from the river valley. This Syrah was not disappointing. The nose is an earthy berry. On first pour, its taste has cherry and mineral. Then, serous drinking gives that cherry plus current and slate. This Syrah finishes with light cedar tannin. Columbia Crest invested in a good cork, which means storing a few bottles over time. The color is a deep, rich red with legs. The legs sort of cling like lips around the wine glass. It’s a god buy for social events, a roast beef dinner, or drink it now.
