2012 Rioja- Reserva Licenciado Winery
The label looked like Mexican silver. So, the wine had to be good. This Rioja is 100% tempranillo from Spain. Opening was good, too, because the winemaker put in a genuine cork. The wine was a full bodied, a dark ruby red. The nose was fruity, a berry, and first taste was earthy. I settled in for dinking this ’12 Rioja. I found lots of plumb, a bit of vanilla, and a berry finish with tannin. It would match well with hearty meals, but not too good for office parties. It’s O.K. for storage: drink it now or store some for later.
