2018 Petit Sirah Parducci Wine Cellars

Any wine maker has more than 60 approved additives for production. These are to tweak a varietal in taste, color, thickness and acidity. (and those cheap wines have “Capitalization” mastered.) So far, the wine industry has avoided law suites about deceptive practices.

That can’t be said about ice cream. In a Wall Street Journal article, 02.08/’21, A few major fast-food chains were hauled into court over “Made with aged Vanilla”. Vanilla traditional comes from vanilla beans grown in Madagascar. But their costs have become expensive. i.e. a gallon of pure vanilla costs from $100-$200.

Due to the cost factor, companies switched to a different flavoring method: wood pulp with unique additives. A California woman is in the process of suing McDonald’s, among others, because she was deceived. Her suit claims the ads are flavors, not actual ingredients. These several vanilla ice cream lawsuits are still pending.

All of this to say that True Grit Petite Sirah is good, but not vintage red wine. The California winemaker did a good work in production. This red as a fruity nose and tastings give layers of aromas. There’s some black berry with minerals rolling around the palate. It pours a deep purple, and it has a light peppery finish.

“Dink-it-now’ for pleasure. And don’t even consider filing a lawsuit, since there is no actual vanilla beans involved.
