In simple math, 1+1=2. In old vine Zinfandel, Lodi, CA+ old vine zin= good stuff. That is true in this ’18 bottle. The win “had” a deep red color with smart legs. Tastings found red berry with chocolate; a bit of pepper blend with its light oak tannin finish.
The Oak Ridge Winery bottles under Old Vine Wines. Their emphasis is on the old 50 + year Zinfandel vines. DYI: there isn’t an official “old Vine” designation for this varietal. These old vines, somehow, create a fantasifull taste.
Here’s a fine Zinfandel for a very reasonable price. It’s “drink-it-now” red wine, but has strong character for food pairings.
