2015 ZinfandelSeghesio winery
This Sonoma County zin is a rich zinfandel. When you first pour it, the dark red, almost purple color, gets you attention. It’s dark enough for sun glasses, but police might stop you when wearing filled wine glasses. Yes; it has long legs. The nose gives off a musty—woody/slate. The first taste has a full body, and later tastings reveal light fruit, like mulberry and tannin for a dry finish. The winery uses real corks, which means you can store it for a while. Its earthy and light fruit tones integrate into a very enjoyable wine experience. Seghesio’s 2015 Zin is a straight-ahead wine. You can confidently take as house gift, an office party, or serve at a dinner party. It’s my “go-to” Zinfandel. Rating: 91
