2015 Shiraz Franklin Tate Estates Winery
While strolling through the wine section of a store, I saw this guy standing behind a wine display. I walked discovering he was the wine maker from Tate Estate winery, which is Australian. His winery is in the Margaret River region/ South eastern shore. In listening to him, he spoke good Australian, was very personable and pleased to “enlighten” me about his wines. He was really Franklin Tate, owner-winemaker, who was introducing his wines to America. I bought several bottles on his recommendation. Then he asked if I wanted his autograph, explaining he was putting his signature on his bottles…. Then remarked because I got so many, he would just sign one of each varietal. That proved a good decision, since I had plans to drink every bottle. His 2015 Shiraz is good with a fine ruby red color. The nose is fruity with a touch of spice. The first tasting was light on the tongue, not overwhelming. That was followed by mixed berries. Continuing, I found a nutty overlay with a dash of pepper.
