2014 Old Vine Zinfadel Dry Creek

Usually, old vine zins afford more character than the normal zinfandel. Dry Creek’s old vine comes through. Its nose is fruity: plumb. The first taste is plumb with light pepper. Trying some more gets into currents. There has to be tannin, and has a smooth oak finish. Also, the color is deep ruby red with heavy legs for body. The winemaker put a genuine cork in this bottle. So, you get more choices when you buy this old vine: drink it now or keep some in your wine cellar. Note: this puppy is for dinners. Casual social glasses really do not fit. Serve it at dinner with beef, lamb, duck or venison. rating: 90
