2016 Valdobbladene Prosecco Mionetto Vineyard, Italy

Our Thanksgiving, ’17, was a bit different, in that we served a Prosecco wine. Even more different was the Jeroboam. Six adults surrounded the bottle; the big boy had a slimmer neck. Its smaller cork caused a minor problem in opening, but we were a determined lot. The E-z pour let folks pour their own, whenever anyone wanted more. In less than an hour, the Prosecco disappeared…. We hadn’t even sat down for turkey dinner. As traditional, it was a semi-sparkling white wine with a slightly fruit nose. There was pear, a bit of honey dew melon and the slight metallic finish. Of course, it didn’t fizz as much as Campaign, nor did it taste as dry. Our guests enjoyed it , and we like it. The empty bottle proves it. rating: 90
