2015 Catena Malbec

My first red wine interest was Merlot, and I have graduated to Pinot Nior. Now, I’m just getting into Malbec, which is another serious red grape to stomp on. This Malbec is from those high mountain vines of Argentina. The wine maker believed his wine merited a genuine cork: nice.

The nose was mineral, a true, serious Malbec. In pouring, the color is a dark, rich red. The legs are a little skinny and runny. The first taste in the tongue is pleasant: strawberry, coca, mineral-slate, and a smooth finish.

The wine went beyond what I expected. You can experience it now, serve with a variety of meals, enjoy with causal company, plus good enough to shelve awhile in your cellar. Rating: 90
