Someone asked me if there were many red blends. Of course, there are. Winemakers blend different varietals by different proportions. The purpose of blends is to enhance a wine’s flavor. This is a red blend from Walla Walla, WA. Region.
The winemaker started with a cabernet Sauvignon; next added Merlot followed by Cab Franc. It was smoothed and mellowed by a touch of Petitte Verdot. Did this application work?
Taste= 2: This is a fine table wine. The tasting found a mellow, very pitiable red blend. There’s dark cherry, herbs with a light cedar finish. Food pairing call for lighter dishes.
Looks= 3: The pour is dark red with strong legs. The winemaker used a real cork for long-term life in a cellar. The label provides accurate information for a buyer.
Cost= 2: At this price, I was expecting more “bling”. The wine is crisp, good tasting and smooth. But when I lay out more than $40 per bottle, wine in that bottle better light-up my taste buds.
