2015 Ego Bodegas Jumilla Goru 18 M
The label sold my wife. It stopped her in her Costco tracks.
It is parchment colored with a weathered, bearded man's face
with knarley vines for hair. It says Goru in raised letters.
Everything is black ink except a gold 18M and a gold seal that says 91.
I don't care. She was attracted to it. I bought it for $12 while secretly harboring low expectations.
This Spanish red from the Jumilla region is a blend of 80% Monastrell and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon.
It is aged 18 months in new oak barrels. It is deliscious. It is worth 3 times the price.
It's a beautiful pour with strong legs and a pleasant light nose.
Low tannin and long dark fruit finish makes it perfect with dinner.
I don't think it was my imagination that an hour later,
the second glass was better than the first.
