2015 Chrysologue Panbrun Wines

This bottle sat on my shelf for 5 years. It was a gift. I told the giver we would drink it on the next visit. Distance makes visits rare, but special. That is all good.

Walla Walla, Washington sounds cool to say out loud. Go ahead. Do it now. You smiled, didn't you? Walla Walla Valley, Washington was voted America's best wine region by USA Today in the 2020 readers choice awards. That was just a random fact to make you say, "Walla Walla, Washington" You're welcome.

This 2015 was the first year they started making Chrysologue. It is a beautiful blend of 59% Cabernet Sauvignon, 24% Cabernet Franc and 17% Merlot, with grapes from Seven Hills, Summit View and Waliser vineyards. It's like the region's greatest hits CD. It was a limited run in a hand numbered (2668) heavy dark green bottle.

As you go north of $50 a bottle, you have expectations. No disappointments here. A pleasant earthy nose, dark fruit that still seemed fresh, a long balanced finish all added up to something special to share. Bottle 2668 was a moment in time. In the end, all bottles have a number whether we know it or not and any moment can be a special time.
