2014 Chianti Classico Brunello di Montalcino
Here’s an estate bottle of classico Chianti with a story to share. These grapes grew though a very hot ’14 summer. Then, the Montalcino region turned into one of Italy’s coolest and wettest seasons in recent memory. A very low 25% production came from these extremes in temperatures.
None-the-less, the wine maker was able to overcome many difficulties. As a result, this ’14 red wine has the familiar deep red color. It possesses fine long legs. Plus, the wine maker had enough confidence to use genuine corks, which allows a buyer to cellar bottles for 10 years.
The wine shows fine long legs clinging onto the glass. Tastings have a surprise… smooth red berry, herbs, a bit of cocoa, and a touch of lemon. Unlike heavier Chianti, this ’14 has low, easy tannins.
Try it. You’ll like it.
